What Are All-on-X Dental Implants?
All-on-X dental implants are a full-arch treatment for people with many missing, damaged, or failing teeth. The approach is also known as Teeth in a Day. Instead of replacing each tooth with its own implant, the surgeon places a planned number of implants, often four or more, in positions that can support a full-arch bridge. When bone support, implant stability, and the overall treatment plan allow immediate loading, a fixed temporary set of teeth may be attached on the day of surgery. After the implants heal and integrate with the jawbone, the restorative dentist or prosthodontist fits the final restoration. Compared with a removable denture, the restoration is secured to the implants and does not come out for daily cleaning.
Who Is a Candidate for All-on-X Dental Implants?
All-on-X dental implants may be considered when a full arch is missing or when extensive decay, advanced gum disease, repeated dental failure, or an unstable denture makes saving individual teeth impractical. They are not automatically right for every patient. Bone volume, implant stability, smoking, medications, diabetes control, gum health, and the restorative plan can affect whether same-day temporary teeth are appropriate. During your evaluation, we review your medical history and imaging, discuss anesthesia and any extractions or grafting, and coordinate with your restorative dentist or prosthodontist. If immediate loading is not predictable, we explain a staged plan and the temporary tooth option before treatment.
